Performance and style for all your aquatic activities. In the 1960s, scuba diving became fashionable; it was a new sport. For divers, time is everything, and Breitling set out to offer them the clearest dive watch possible, eliminating any feature that would not save lives underwater. This simplified watch was named “Slow Motion”. It maintained clean lines, robust luminescent indices, square hands and a high-contrast dial ring, all designed to offer maximum legibility. Practical, yes. But what truly captivated everyone was its appearance. The new Superocean revives the celebrated design codes of the Slow Motion, while adding modern elements such as a ceramic-inlaid bezel and vibrant coloured dials. Its broad hands and indices in luminescent Super-LumiNova® allow easy readability underwater. The watch is water-resistant to 300 m (1,000 feet), and is resistant to shocks, sand and salt water. The bronze version uses a special alloy that offers excellent corrosion resistance, but over time develops a subtle patina that makes the watch even more unique. Both strap options (rubber and metal bracelet) feature a folding clasp that allows micro-adjustments of up to 15 mm to facilitate wearing over water clothing and wetsuits. Its scratch-proof ceramic-inlaid bezel will never wear or fade. For added security, the bezel is unidirectional on most sizes and bidirectional with a patented lock on the 46 mm model. Best of all, it is no longer strictly a dive watch: you can surf, swim and go to the beach bar with it, and then wear it to dinner. The Superocean perfectly balances the nostalgia of its heritage with a fresh, new look.
